Marrakech
Arrive in Marrakech to your riad. The evening will find you drawn to the Djemaa El Fna main square where you will be entertained by dancers, snake charmers, gnaoua musicians and story tellers. Enjoy the cuisine offered at numerous food stalls serving gastronomy of authentic Moroccan meals. Stay in Marrakech for breakfast.
Ait Benhaddou
Transportation from Marrakech crossing the High Atlas Mountains to the world heritage site of Ait Benhaddou. Here you will be transported in time to the old kasbahs, which were the ancient stops for caravans crossing the desert and High Atlas Mountains to get to the Marrakech (now modern day Morocco). Enjoy lunch in Ait Benhaddou and then visit Morocco’s Hollywood film studio where many big box office movies were filmed (Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Cleopatra and more). Stay in Ait Benhaddou for dinner.
Ouarzazate / Dades Gorges
From Ouarzazate, your days will include the Skoura oasis and the Valley of the Rose, which is famous for its Persian rose oil. The destination will be the Dades Gorge, which is a small valley in the High Atlas with stunning rock formations. This journey will take you through Berber villages, riverside oasis and barren hillsides that are clustered with kasbahs. Spend the night in an old kasbah.
Merzouga
Enjoy breakfast and then be swept away to the Erg Chebbi to a sea of desert sand. Let the geologist in you come out as you will pass through exposed rock slabs of fossils. You can stop to visit a fossil workshop for a closer look at the Sahara’s varieties of ancient life. This trip will take you further into the desert landscape, until the dunes appear in the horizon. This destination will take you to where you can meet your camel guide for a ride into the camp. Enjoy an evening having a meal of tagine under the desert stars and then watch the moon rise and the stars light up the sky.
Fes
On this day you will depart the desert to the cultural heartbeat, Fes. The drive will take you through the desert and through the Ziz gorges to the Middle Atlas Mountains. Be amazed as the view changes from high and sandy desert to alpine towns of Azrou and Ifrane. Stop here to relax, enjoy the view before descending to the ancient city of Fes.
Fes Medina
Uncover ancient medinas and weave through the shadows of medieval lanes in imperial cities. The winding streets of Morocco’s ancient medina are bursting with so many colors and flavors that you will be planning a return visit soon after arrival.
Volubilis
Enjoy a day trip from Fes to visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. This city was built as a trading post into other African countries and was the furthest outpost of all Roman cities up to the 3rd Century AD.
Meknes
Enjoy a day walking tour through the Medina of Fes and visit to town of Meknes. Enjoy some shopping, dine, and relax as you immerse yourself into this wondrous town.
Marrakech
The journey back to Marrakech starts on this day, with stops to Ouzoud Cascades. These waterfalls flow into a spectacular gorge through a series of pools. The trails above and below the falls are great to explore and here you’ll see exotic birds and perhaps Barbary apes. The road to Marrakech! This is roughly a 3 hours drive. Relax and rest as the next day will be your departure from Morocco.
